From the cover, I was expecting a lighthearted read, but the book does deal with some pretty heavy themes, which I thought the author did a great job of balancing with the romance. The spice was also very strong here👀🤭

The MMC Chris was without a doubt the highlight of the book for me. I completely fell in love with him and I honestly wish I met a man like him in real life. He was so sweet, caring and sensitive. He just said all the right things and I loved how he went after what he wanted. As for the FMC Daphne, she did aggravate me at times with the decisions she was making and how hypocritical she could be. It took her so long to come clean and I wished it had happened sooner. I did like the growth she experienced regarding her job and self-confidence though.

The pacing of the plot was pretty good, but I did find that the characters developed feelings too quickly after a few text messages. The author could have done a better job of slowly showcasing how Daphne and Chris caught feelings for each other. The shift was not very gradual. The chemistry and tension between Daphne and Chris does kind of made up for that though. I also don’t know much about baseball so all the lingo and jokes completely flew over my head.

All in all, this was a really fun and entertaining romance. It was heartwarming and put a smile to my face several times. I would highly recommend this book if you’re looking for your next sports romance!
