it was amazing

Now THIS is the kind of horror novel I signed up for. It’s been a couple years since a book has genuinely scared me. I’m at a loss for words.

This story has an interesting history, as the author first wrote it on the No Sleep subreddit. I remember scrolling through No Sleep every single day back in high school & college - there’s something so nostalgic about that subreddit, one of the only places I was able to find genuine scares. So when I found out this book was adapted from one of those tales, I was so excited to read.

It did not disappoint. I seem to be drawn to stories like this. Penpal is another amazing one I read that has the “No sleep” vibes. It also had the same disturbing factor as this one did, even though the plots are entirely different.

If you’re interested in Mandela Effects & The Backrooms, I have a feeling you’ll enjoy this one. It actually contains many creepy concepts that I’ve heard about online such as liminal spaces, Pareidolia, etc.

Even though the story pulls from things I had heard before, it’s still stunningly unique. I’ve heard that it’s being made into a movie soon and I’m looking forward to how they transfer something like this onto the big screen.

I feel like I just survived the trippiest dream I’ve ever had… and now I want everyone to experience the same thing. Wow. Wow. Wow.
