did not like it

Might be the Worst Book I’ve Read this Year ( And I Read About 5/week)

Reading this was painful, I had to force myself to finish. Mostly a monologue about one woman’s struggle with her feminine body; abortion, depression, menopause, etc. There really is no generational sandwich, other than the one she creates in her head. Her children are of age and live independently, her parents are elderly but live independently. Her husband should be given a hero award for sticking with her. I can think of nothing positive to say about this book other than I finished it.

Jeanette DeSantis I agree! Just a terrible book, too painful to finish.

Done with TV Agree. That bit with her husband being so great and she was unlikeable. She didn’t act like a sane human for 5 minutes but she had a job making more money than her husband. I know it’s just fiction but this book switched over to fantasy.

Sharon I couldn’t read more than a couple of chapters before I gave up.

Jean Browne Ugh! I was so looking forward to reading this book, and now I am so disappointed that I did! I too forced myself to finish it, and now I wish I had that time back!

Linda I’m at the age where I throw books on the floor if they annoy me. The only reason this one wasn’t thrown was because it was a library book..thank god I didn’t buy it!

Kathleen Moore Agreed. I won this book from a goodreads giveaway. What a disappointment. I thought it was going to be about a woman struggling with the responsibilities of raising children and taking care of aging parents while going through mid-life. Instead, it was a vehicle for right-wing propaganda. Why do so many contemporary authors feel the need to ruin good stories by blatantly pushing their own agendas. This one wasn't even subtle about it.

Diane Kathleen, what did you feel was “right-wing propaganda” in this book? Did you mean to say left-wing?

Mary Kruft Agree. Just awful.
