With so much controversy over Sherry Thomas' debut novel, Private Arrangements, I don't think Delicious has ever received the recognition it deserves. This was a delightful, Cinderella-inspired love story about a gentleman of means who falls head over heels in love with a mysterious beauty whom he engages in a "one-night stand". Come morning his new "love" has vanished and the hero is left with nothing but her muddy galoshes (and an overwhelming desire to find her and return them). But it's long past midnight and "Cinderella" is back in the kitchen...pining over her lost love and pouring her heart into the dishes she creates...until one day she is actually preparing those dishes for an unsuspecting "Prince Charming". I can't believe I let this gem of a "forbidden love" story sit in my TBR pile for over a year! The premise was unique and the story was at times humorous but for the most part poignant...tugging at your heartstrings up to the very wonderful end!

K. K2: YAY! I've been waiting for Sherry Thomas to write an actual "love story," after reading her soap -- "Private Arrangements"! LOL! I'm on my last audiobook from the 3 for 2 sale right now, so I'm getting "Delicious" on my next binge. I loved your review.

K. K2: Oh no! :( This is one of the few books we have a split on. I enjoyed ST's writing (par usual), but I actually ended up liking PA more than this one.

I'll still probably read or listen to her 3rd book -- because hope springs eternal for me with this author's writing style. She's bound to trip over some characters I end up caring about. Although completely unbelieveable (sorry -- I can't buy the "hanky" over the face the whole time in the tub scene!!), that sex scene was smokin' hot! One of the best.

That's ok. I skimmed the book (horrors!) the first time through so when I actually read it I was already familiar with the characters and the flashbacks (which I normally despise). Other than that, I guess it's just a matter of taste (pun intended ;) because I loved Verity & Stuart and thought Thomas redeemed herself after the sad, empty relationship she had created for Gigi and Cam.
