really liked it

3.5 stars

I won't lie. The beginning of the book brought back memories of a certain movie...

But let's not make this all about Georgie and Seth. Doug's been acting weird lately and Georgie's old friend, Bastien, is in town for a special mission requiring her assistance.

Ugh. Who am I kidding. I don't want to talk about Doug and Bastien. I caught on to their problems way before Georgie figured it out. What I really, really want to talk about is my problem with how the whole thing with (view spoiler) was glossed over. I feel that Seth has been so lenient with her, and inasmuch as I love him, I hate that he was so darn good and understanding! I wanted fury! Jealousy! Relationship drama! I don't hate Georgie for what she did but I can't help but feel that she got away with it.

Favourite parts:
1. The flashbacks. I love nostalgia, and I connected to Georgie more in her past life. I love the scenes with Seth and Georgie, I really do, but (view spoiler) gave me goosebumps and heart flutters.

2. The scenes with the gang. Gawd I love Jerome and Carter.

3. Georgie's present. *blush*

4. Painting with the Mortensens.

Up until this book I thought the series was a little too chick-lit for my reading mood but towards the end I finally saw the angst building up. I"m probably just saying this because I missed Roman but I liked this a little less than the first book. But I'm definitely hooked, evident in my unplanned reading of Succubus Dreams. Can I just finish the series and do a series review instead?

Ash Wednesday I haven't seen that movie. Really?

Kim *Mo Chridhe* (view spoiler)

Ash Wednesday I can't believe that's Jeff Bridges o.O gad I'm old.

Kim *Mo Chridhe* You want to feel old? Jurassic Park (the movie) is 20 years old this year.

Stacia (the 2010 club) Wow, that does make me feel old because I remember seeing JP at the movie theater.

I can't wait until you get to book 4. Sigh...book 4. That scene.

Kim *Mo Chridhe* Which scene? (view spoiler)

"That's All" Ash AWESOME review, Kim! ♥

Kim *Mo Chridhe* Thanks, Ash! =)

Stacia (the 2010 club) Kim wrote: "Which scene? [spoilers removed]"

Yes, maam. Did you already read it? I thought you were only on book 3? Or am I confusing people? Because I do that sometimes, get mixed up.

Kim *Mo Chridhe* I was on a roll. I just finished 4 half an hour ago. Yeah, my mouth hung open when I read that. Lol!

Stacia (the 2010 club) I know! I loved that scene so much because (view spoiler)

Kim *Mo Chridhe* Agreed! Ash told me prior to reading this that there was a scene I'd likely be rereading. I think she meant that one =p

Ash Wednesday Kimmy it was Stacia who egged me to get on to this series even if I didn't like VA so much. The office scene was her "carrot on a stick" to me :p

Kim *Mo Chridhe* Hahaha! Glad you took the bait and egged me on as a consequence. But why you no likely VA? Was it Rose?

Ash Wednesday Meh. Rose was okay for me until I think the last two books? The character dynamics threw me off mostly. I never ran out of things to complain about that series, the only thing I liked about it were Christian and Adrian.

I have to be very careful because if Stacia hears me trash talking VA I'd be dead o.O

Kim *Mo Chridhe* I loved her instantly, but slowly got on my nerves as the series progressed. (view spoiler) I love the Bloodlines series more now :)

Cynthia Ash, we're on exactly the same the page with VA. Christian was my favourite in the first book and Adrian in the second. Nobody else made any sense to me.

And you owe us Finnikin! After you finish Froi and Quinatana, you'll seriously be thanking us.

Ash Wednesday Lol! I'm scared to try her fantasy books, I might get lost :p I will though, given the right mood :)

I didn't get the dynamics between Rose and Lissa, or the guardians and Moroi in general. I always felt like the guardians were getting the short end of the stick in that relationship which annoyed me up to the very end.

Kim *Mo Chridhe* Yeah, Ash. You owe us Finnikin. He's a ginger! You know you want to. *eyebrow waggle*
Okay, I'm not lusting over Finnikin but Froi you've got to meet. Froi of the Exiles (Lumatere Chronicles, #2) by Melina Marchetta Look at those kohl-rimmed eyes.

True. It felt like they were second-class citizens at times.

Me too!! I wrote a mini rant on the characters relationships in VA and stopped before I could get to the Moroi/guardian hierarchy because it would've turned into an essay.

But I did like Frostbite significantlyyyy better. I've been wanting to pick up #3 but the fact that there are 3 more books after that is kinda discouraging. Is there a "carrot on a stick" moment I should know about?

Kim *Mo Chridhe* I don't know about Ash but my carrot on a stick moment was the knowledge that Adrian was getting his own series. I loved his humor and melodramatic ways.

Ash Wednesday I think I liked 4 the best. The carrot on a stick moment for me is a spoiler and involves a bridge *wink wink*

I love Adrian but not enough to make me pick up the spin off. Maybe after te movie I'd see this series with more fondness.

Cynthia Ooo is Bloodlines about Adrian? I totally missed that. If that's the only thing I have to look forward to I'm tempted to just skip right ahead to those.

But I just peeked at the covers and damn they are fugly LOL. Especially the latest one. The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines, #4) by Richelle Mead I don't wana insult the graphic designer but it literally hurts my eyes. At this point I think RM is cursed.

Ash Wednesday I don't think covers are her strongest suit :)
I dunno, I haven't really paid much attention to it but the discussions I've skimmed alluded to him figuring in Bloodlines as a MC.

Kim *Mo Chridhe* My history with RM began with this: I saw a YA Crush Tourney where Adrian won so I got curious. At that time, the second book in the Bloodlines series, The Golden Lily, just came out and my local bookstore went crazy promoting it. Then I learned that it was a spinoff and I didn't think I could go through 6 BOOKS of VA to get to Bloodlines. But one day I just took the plunge and never looked back. I love the character development of the two main characters in Bloodlines better. And I agree, the covers suck. Even the book trailers are horrible. But they don't reflect the greatness inside :)
