It's one of my favorites too! Funny you should mention quotes, I was just sitting here, moments ago, thinking about how much I enjoy quotes from his books – they're so ethereal and emotive. He might well be my favorite author. I'll read anything Neil Gaiman.

Gladimore ME TOO! I have almost finished everything he has written, at least that I know of.

I believe I've read all his solo and co-written novels. I'm saving the short stories for when I'm in a slump and need some quick wins. One of these days I'm going to need to read Sandman again.

Thanks, MischaS! I think my first Gaiman book was American Gods, after which I’ve read 14 more :)

Mrinmayi This book is one of my all time favorites 🤩
Neil Gaiman's writing style speaks to the heart
You did a wonderful job of summing the entire book in just so many words 👍🏽Neil Gaiman would be proud of your review 😊
Makes me wonder how you would review some of the other YA books 🤔
It would be interesting seeing your review on them

Thanks, Mrinmayi! That's nice of you to say. I appreciate it. I don't know if YA is necessarily my genre. I've certainly read and reviewed YA books in the past, but I have different tastes in fiction and tend to try a bit of everything. For that matter, I don't see this as a YA book, though I'm sure a case can be made for it as one. I'm pretty much a mood reader, so perhaps more YA will be in my future. Depends how the wind blows, I guess :)

Bello Habeeb fantastic review

Mrinmayi @Jayson
Not sure which genre l would classify it
I got this recommendation from booktube
At first I thought it would probably be fantasy but it has magical realism in it
But despite the genre the book gave me one of the best experience while reading it
It was that atmospheric and engaging

I would consider it low fantasy and supernatural. And by "low fantasy" I mean it takes place in the real world, as opposed to high fantasy which takes place in an imagined one. You could call it magical realism, but personally, I don't think it downplays its fantastical elements enough to fit that, but that's a term without a hard and fast definition. Regardless, I'm really glad you enjoyed this one. It's one of my favorite Gaiman books :)

Jayson Pluto_reads wrote: "I love your review! I don't know how you manage to sum everything up in a sentence. Glad you enjoyed the book!"

Thanks, Pluto! So happy you liked the review, it's one of the favorite ones I've written. Summing things up boils down to a lot of practice, I used to have trouble with it, though sometimes you get lucky and inspiration hits you just right😁👍

Heather Jayson, your review is beautiful and spot-on -- never stop reading favourites from childhood (and, hopefully, read them to a child you love.) 😍
