"Using "Ulysses Annotated", the Joyce Project online, the Gabler edition, and the 1939 Odyssey Press version to do as comprehensive a breakdown as I can, going through each annotation and variation, and essentially reading each page three times: a casual page-at-a-time scan, an annotated page-at-a-time perusal, and a bolstered re-read of the whole chapter. 1 week in and 20 pages done.
