"The Medieval and Renaissance chapter was good. It covered similar material to what I learned in my Pre-16th Century Music History course in college aeons ago, so it was great review. It was an overview, but in-depth enough to be interesting. It'll give me lots of branching-off points to pursue - including composers and pieces. I'll have to relisten to this chapter, as it's the time period I know the least about." Aug 25, 2024 07:43PM

“If the ways of this world are based on equivalent exchange, as alchemy says, then in order to allow for a new generation to enjoy good fortune, then the price that we must pay is to carry the bodies of the dead across a river of blood.”

“History is a set of repeating circles, like the tide. The wind does blow through the ruins of tomorrow. But it is more a question of two steps forward, one step back. Humans and dragons make the same mistakes, again and again, but things do get better over time”
Cressida Cowell

“For a Hero cannot triumph all the time. Sometimes he will be defeated, and how he faces that defeat is a test of his character.”
Cressida Cowell, How to Steal a Dragon's Sword

Cressida Cowell
“The Hero cares not for a wild winter's storm. For it carries him swift on the back of the storm. All may be lost and our hearts may be worn, but a Hero fights forever.”
Cressida Cowell, How to Twist a Dragon's Tale
