One from genealogy that has haunted me for a long time is the disappearance of a cousin of my maternal grandfather.
Mary (Mame) Sears Reader left Sunbury PA in 1882 to join her husband Joseph Reader, who had assumed a new job in another area of the state. Friends saw her off at the station and another testified later he'd spoken to her on the train. Yet she failed to arrive at her destination.
There was no information that she intended to leave her husband, and almost all the Sears family think she was foully dealt with during her trip. But then comes the question of motive, and the mysterious disappearance. If she had been murdered where was the body? The husband later filed for divorce and remarried. The mystery remains unsolved. Thanks...for the friendship, comment on the books and the information on Iles. I have read a couple of his other books and want to read more. I do like his style.
Your book sounds like one I want to read, too. Hope to talk to you more later.

Dick Peterson J.R., it was my pleasure to accept your friendship today ... both for the friendship and for discovering your books. I marked a couple to-read. I also wandered here and in Amazon doing fanning and liking clicks in some of your places. I noticed that you have read Turning Angel by Greg Iles. It was the middle of three of his books concerning Penn Cage. You rated it with four stars, and I gave it five. Truth be known, the other two Penn Cage books are significantly better. The Quiet Game is the first one. The Devil's Punchbowl is the second. Unwritten Laws: The Bone Tree and Unwritten Laws: The Trial of Tom Cage are two volumes that will come out in 2012 and will continue the saga of Penn Cage. I believe Iles will knock it out of the park with these two. They were originally to be one book but got expanded. He says the two volumes will be the equivalent of three of his normal works. He would have had the first out before yearend, but he was in a bad auto accident in March. They did some repair to his aorta, his right leg below the knee had to be amputated, and a few other things. He's out of the woods now. I think the guy is a genius. I just thought I'd give you a heads up. If you read TQG and TDP before the two new ones come out, you'll be set.

Jeremy I want to apologize for the all the recommendations from me yesterday. I wanted to share the Stoker Award news, and I only pressed the send button once--I'm not sure what happened to create so many messages. Some weird glitch.

Argh...this is terrible...

Again, I'm very sorry.

Jeremy Here’s wishing you a nifty New Year filled with noiseless noses, neato nicknames, noble Nebraskans, gnarly narcoleptic nebulas, and novel novels about nut-eating narwhals and novercaphobic gnats.

-Jeremy :)

P.S.—I’m currently offering autographed/personally-inscribed copies of my novel, Vacation, with free shipping for those in the US. If there’s anything you could do to help me spread the word about this, I’d really appreciate it. Feel free to click here for details:
