I am hoping that Matthew Through Old Testament Eyes will be out in 2019, followed by one a year. You can see the list of those signed up at the beginning of the book. In addition to those, Erica Moore of Trinity School of Theology near Pittsburgh is signed up to do 1 Corinthians. Kregel wants to see how the first volume goes before we sign up people for the rest of the series. It would be great to be able to cover the whole New Testament. If I did another one, James would be a likely candidate since I've already done quite a bit of work on the OT in that letter. Thanks again for spreading the word on the book!(less)

The Most Bewildering Parable

Perhaps Jesus’ all-time most bewildering parable is that of the unjust steward (Luke 16:1-9). Is Jesus really saying it’s okay to misuse other people’s money?

The story is this. A rich guy (let’s call him Elon) has heard that his manager (let’s call him Andy) is wasting his money, maybe skimming some off the top. So Elon tells the manager to turn in the books. He’s fired.

Andy is desperate about how

“Metaphors, similes, and analogies sharpen the sword of our writing. They allow us to cut quickly through the fat to the meat of our purpose (p. 146).”
Andrew T. Le Peau, Write Better: A Lifelong Editor on Craft, Art, and Spirituality

“To read or not to read: that is the question.”
Andrew T. Le Peau, Write Better: A Lifelong Editor on Craft, Art, and Spirituality

“Both read the same Bible, and pray to the same God; and each invokes His aid against the other. It may seem strange that any men should dare to ask a just God’s assistance in wringing their bread from the sweat of other men’s faces; but let us judge not, that we be not judged. The prayers of both could not be answered; that of neither has been answered fully.”
Andrew T. Le Peau, Write Better: A Lifelong Editor on Craft, Art, and Spirituality

“Writers block occurs when a writer has nothing to say. Unfortunately not all writers experience it.”
Ron Brackin

“I deal with writer’s block by lowering my expectations. I think the trouble starts when you sit down to write and imagine that you will achieve something magical and magnificent—and when you don’t, panic sets in. The solution is never to sit down and imagine that you will achieve something magical and magnificent. I write a little bit, almost every day, and if it results in two or three or (on a good day) four good paragraphs, I consider myself a lucky man. Never try to be the hare. All hail the tortoise.”
Malcolm Gladwell
