It was kind of surreal to hear Mieville actually speak, since I've been reading his work for so long. I was kind of expecting a grittier Jason Stathamy accent, considering the fact that on all of his cover pictures he looks like he's thinking about beating you up, not the well-spoken gentlemen in the video. But it does nothing to disprove my firmly held belief that (and I paraphrase myself here) 'China Mieville is a literary badass.'
Because I adored perdido street station, I,ve been reading Mieville whenever I can get hold of one of his titles. I don;t love thhem all! I do not like detective/ mysteries in general, but after watching this, I can hardly wait.
I really like him referring to holes in logic, and the idea of writing one book in every genre. Hope this includes biogreaphy as this is one exciting man...
