Hamilton more at peace after trip to Africa during summer break

Lewis Hamilton has been busy during Formula 1's summer break. The seven-time World Champion visited the Olympics to support his friend and also had a picture with Snoop Dog. The British driver has since travelled to Africa, and he claims this trip has allowed him to recharge and refresh.

Hamilton was full of emotion when he visited Africa in 2022. He travelled to places like Namibia, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. He spoke about how he felt more connected to his history and said, "I feel my ancestors with me now stronger than I ever have before."

Why Hamilton is 'more at peace'

During the 2024 summer break, Hamilton returned to Africa and enjoyed another trip. "For a second year, I’m so fortunate to travel through Africa during the break. The first time around, I was overwhelmed by just how beautiful and healing this world can be, and this trip is no different," Hamilton said on Instagram before explaining how it could help him.

"Just like last time, I’m feeling more and more re-centered and at peace as the days go by. Morocco was the first stop, words can’t describe the experience, hopefully the photos come close. Still so much to see and learn," he continued.

Hamilton will return to Formula 1 action at next weekend's Dutch Grand Prix. He then starts the final chapter in his Mercedes career as he will switch to Ferrari for the 2025 season. He has two wins to his name this year and is hunting down the likes of Carlos Sainz, Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc in the World Championship.
