Barry Keoghan is most comfortable in Marbella Don mode

At yesterday's London show, the Banshees of Inisherin star popped in a Burberry tracksuit

Barry Keoghan loves a tracksuit. And not just on-screen as the tracksuit-wearing, gun-wielding kid in Love/Hate. Whether it's on the red carpet at South by Southwest in an Adidas Three Striper, or at a Dublin screening of his film Calm With Horses in a Kangol shellsuit, Keoghan is most comfortable in a late ‘80s/early ’90s tracksuit. Marbella Don mode, if you will.

Such a fan of a tracksuit is the 30-year-old, that a Dublin café actually refused him entry for wearing one back in 2018. Which he wasn't happy about. “Only two people sitting in the place this morning. Walked in for a coffee with my brother. Asked to leave because of what I was wearing?” he tweeted. Tracksuit bias is real – and unfounded. Because they look great.

At yesterday's Burberry show, the Banshees of Inisherin actor further professed his love of a casual set. Sat with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Burna Boy, Kano and Micheal Ward, Keoghan switched the classic minimal Burberry trench for a very un-minimal houndstooth tracksuit.

His fit was part of Burberry's pre-fall ‘23 collection, which was unveiled earlier this year. It was boxy in construction, and on his feet, he wore a pair of Nike Air Force 1s. The overall look is ‘80s and modern all at once, and sits comfortable in the middle of a Venn diagram between football terraces, PE teacher and the perma-tanned uncle who moved to Ibiza before the hen dos came.

It also speaks to Burberry's current era. After a relatively global outlook from previous creative director Riccardo Tisci, Lee has looked inward to the United Kingdom for his inspiration. The result is a celebration of everything and anything British: there've been collabs with Norman's Cafe, an old school London dining institution, and mallard prints, and homages to the British park, and references to terminally bad weather, and yes, tracksuits.

And that Burberry is one Barry Keoghan can get onboard with.
