Jeremy Allen White leads the revival of the Bulgari Bulgari watch

It’s been a wild start to 2024 for Jeremy Allen White. While there are no official statistics for accidents caused by The Bear actor’s big Calvin Klein underwear billboards, we can only assume casualties have occurred given the levels of head-turning thirst. Coupled with White winning big at the Golden Globes, Critic’s Choice and delayed Emmy Awards, moments of solace and silence have been few and far between for him. So much so, we wouldn’t blame him for wanting to still be (spoiler alert if you haven’t watched The Bear Season Two) locked in that walk-in fridge.

Amid all the hysteria, JAW has quietly been rocking some rather delicious-looking wristwear. Always partial to a Vacheron Constantin flex, it was his mysterious Golden Globes piece that caught the attention of GQ’s nosy watch-spotting club (official membership plans are ongoing).

Why? Because it’s possible the actor was wearing a watch that was yet released… until now.

Today, in Miami for LVMH Watch Week, the beloved Italian jeweller Bulgari announced it’s bringing back a bit of a classic. If loud and proud is your vibe – and you think about the Roman empire a lot – you’ll love the new collection of Bulgari Bulgari watches – the ones that have ‘Bulgari’ written around the gold bezels.

They are hard to miss, which is what made the one on JAW’s wrist earlier this month unmistakable. Despite only a quarter of the watch poking out from underneath his tuxedo, the case is so recognisable that there was more than enough to work with to identify what watch it was. And now that it’s been officially released, we can celebrate the fact the revival of the Bulgari Bulgari watch is happening.

“I love this watch… or should I say ‘adoro questo orologio,’ says Dimepiece’s Brynn Wallner, who reckons she might be close to the top of the Bulgari Bulgari fan club. “With the original Bulgari Bulgari debuting in 1975, the timing feels right for its comeback – '70s watches have been in the spotlight, and I love that this one evokes the flashiness of the decade with the recurring engraved logo on the bezel. I've had my eye on the Bulgari Bulgari line ever since my friend and pro watch dealer Alan Bedwell scooped one up at an antique watch fair (which we sold within a day of listing on my website).”

Gianni Bulgari and the watch world’s godfather, Gerald Genta, both had hands in the OG design of this icon, which over the years has been a go-to of Tina Turner, George Michael and Zendaya. No doubt Genta would be approving of the latest versions, which come in rose and yellow gold, in 26mm and 38mm. Simplicity was always a trait Genta favoured, and that’s honoured by how minimal the dials are on these new pieces, comfortably surrounded by luxury. While the combo of a white dial and brown leather strap will please the traditionalists, for us the black dial black leather strap (JAW’s choice) is by far the sexiest new colourway.

“It's a more low-key way into the glamorous universe of Bulgari – and on the affordable side, too, since most of us can't afford a yellow gold Serpenti,” adds Wallner. “I am all for genderless watches but I can't get behind (straight) men wearing the Serpenti – to me, it looks goofy and forced. But the Bulgari Bulgari strikes a nice balance. It's a bit dandy, and doesn't lean too masculine like the Octo Finissimo [which also has two new pieces launched in Miami]. It’s perfetto for a red carpet moment, complementing the nonchalant attitude of Mr Jeremy Allen White – and his cute rosey lapel pin.”
