The unbearable weight of Pedro Pascal's awesome hair

From Wonder Woman 1984 to The Last Of Us, these are Pedro Pascal's best on-screen hair moments
The unbearable weight of Pedro Pascal's awesome hair

From his little brown cardigans to bootleg vintage Lakers T-shirts, it's no secret that Pedro Pascal is something of a menswear god. Or just a god in general, to be honest. Because, while his very, very oversized coat and very, very short shorts became the centre of attention during last month's Met Gala, one of the best (and yet one of the most overlooked) things about his anime villain-inspired red carpet fit was actually his slicked back hair.

In fact, the 48-year-old has had a silly amount of Internet-breaking hairstyles over the past couple of years. From Wonder Woman 1984 to The Last of Us, Pascal stans have been pining over a cherubic lid, and now you can too. Feel free to thank us later.

1 | Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones (2011)

HBO

Before his head was crushed into smithereens by The Mountain (spoiler alert but whatever, it was almost a decade ago man), Pascal's Oberyn Martell was one of the most well-groomed guys in Game of Thrones lore. As the Red Viper of Dorne, his hair is short and cropped, but slightly ruffled with wax. Perfectly imperfect.

2 | Javier Peña in Narcos (2015)

Netflix

For Narcos, Pascal headed back to the ‘70s where he played DEA agent Javier Peña: a hard-boiled bad cop type who was tasked with bringing down drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. And in the grand tradition of hard-boiled bad cop types, his hair was exceptionally good and exceptionally '70s.

Towards the third season of the Emmy Award-nominated show, he kinda loses the mullet which is sad, but his strong tash continues to live on.

3 | Din Djarin in The Mandalorian (2019)

Disney+

Even though Din Djarin wears a helmet for the majority of The Mandalorian, when he eventually takes it off in the Season 1 finale, Star Wars fans are blessed with a beautiful mess that can only be achieved with salt spray, salt spray, and even more salt spray. With beachy curls across the top and a short back and sides, it's paired with a slightly scruffy beard that's rugged and dependable, much like Mando himself.

4 | Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)

Warner Bros. Pictures

As Wonder Woman 1984's big bad man, Pascal whipped out the bleach to play Maxwell Lord. Gone are his chestnut brown locks in favour of a douchey blonde ‘80s hairdo, and he even erased his signature moustache too, leaving behind a very well moisturised face that you either love to hate or hate to love. While nobody in the history of mankind will ever sit on a barber’s chair and ask for “The Maxwell Lord,” there's no denying that it's still a pretty memorable cut.

5 | Javi Gutierrez in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)

Lionsgate

At this point, we all know that The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is just one giant meme. But one thing that's definitely not a joke is Javi Gutierrez's long, luscious locks. Not only is it a spectacle to behold in the world of hair, it's also a scientific marvel. Even while he's driving with the top down, his curls somehow manage to defy space and gravity by staying completely still and intact. We can't even begin to fathom how much hairspray was used in this film.

6 | Joel Miller in The Last of Us (2023)

HBO

The Last of Us is, without a doubt, one of the best TV shows in a very, very long time. There are plenty of memorable moments across the entire series (we're looking at you, sad, sad episode 3), but a recurring theme that you can't ignore is just how good Joel looks even in the apocalypse. With an unkempt lid and a beard full of silver, while it might look a little messy at first, this could just be Pascal's best on-screen hair moment, like, ever. Plus, we're glad to see that pomade is an essential even during the end of the world.
