The summer of 2020 has seen very few cinema releases, and those that we have been served haven’t quite come up trumps (Tenet, we’re looking at you).
That being said, we’re hopeful that things can improve and we’re hedging our bets that the action-packed Kingsman 3 (confusingly titled The King’s Man), the third drop in Matthew Vaughn’s blockbuster spy movie franchise, will deliver.
With a release slated for 26 February 2021, it follows on from 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle. And while there’s still half a year to wait, Mr Porter has just dropped a stellar collection of gear that will give you your Kingsman fix until the cinema doors are flung open.
Kingsman, a collection of luxury menswear and accessories exclusive to Mr Porter, is another brainchild of Vaughn, who wanted to provide fans of the film franchise with the same uber-stylish, characteristic finery that Colin Firth, Taron Egerton and Samuel L Jackson wore. Founded in 2015, Kingsman’s latest drop is its 13th and pays homage to the early days of the First World War, the period during which upcoming prequel The King’s Man is set.
For the movie, The King’s Man costume director, Michele Clapton, dressed a new cast (Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and Matthew Goode have joined the ranks) and faced the challenge of taking the audience back to the 1910s. The result was a costume department filled to the brim with expertly cut, waist-cinching three-piece and double-breasted suits, as well as fetching military classics, such as greatcoats, ceremonial dress trousers and, in the case of Gemma Arterton, a delicious chocolate knee-length flight coat.
