The Nike Air Jordan 1 Low ‘Born To Fly’ is a skate shoe in disguise

Born for the hardcourt, made for the halfpipe, destined for a hypebeast's shelf
The Nike Air Jordan 1 Low ‘Born To Fly is a skate shoe in disguise

Just last month, Nike dropped the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 ‘Pine Green,’ which is, at its core, a basketball shoe that has been reengineered for skateboarding. Hype surrounding this release was pretty massive. So to ride on this wave, Jordan Brand has now taken the wraps off of the Air Jordan 1 Low ‘Born To Fly', and as it's given Michael Jordan's low-top flagship a makeover, there are like, a billion cool details to unpack here.

One of the first things is the ‘White’ and ‘University Blue’ colour palette. While this might look like just another clean colourway to some, sneaker nerds will know that this actually nods to His Airness' alma mater of the University of North Carolina. Featuring a full leather construction, neatly aligned perforations make their way across the toe area for better ventilation, and the collar has been totally beefed up for extra kickflip comfort.

The nylon tongue is stitched with a single Jumpman logo, and around the back, the classic winged basketball emblem looks like it has been hand drawn. This is complemented by a bunch of other painterly illustrations to the uppers, which includes skaters, hand gestures, and quotes. The Jordan is then finished off with a fiery Swoosh across the sides which sets the sneaker alight. That's hot.

We're only four months into 2023, and we've have already been blessed with some of the coolest Js of all-time. With the Air Jordan 3 ‘Lucky Green’ scheduled to drop this week and the Air Jordan 1 High ‘Lucky Green’ currently on the horizon, sneakerheads are being totally spoilt here.

Expected to release within the coming months, the Air Jordan 1 Low ‘Born To Fly’ will be available through Nike, the SNKRS app, and select stockists globally, and will probably be priced at £110. Well, that's if you're lucky enough to cop them for retail, that is.
