The term 'Quiet luxury' isn't actually 'quiet' at all, because it’s been the aesthetic everybody has talked about throughout 2023.
Luxury clothing with a relaxed aesthetic and the total opposite of logomania – no prints or emblems that make the brand instantly recognisable. But the point is, you know where the pieces are from just by looking at them. I.e – those cult black zip-front boots from The Row were on everybody’s radar last autumn, yet there’s not a logo in sight. Along with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s cool-girl brand, think Celine, Loro Piana, Khaite, Tove and Toteme, to name a few.
“Quiet Luxury is a new age minimalism style, and in terms of clothes they are investment pieces and forever staples that will last in your wardrobe,” stylist Georgie Gray told Hello! Fashion, ‘Quiet Luxury’ is the most sustainable as you have chosen pieces that will last in your wardrobe forever. It’s a smart aesthetic, with classic cuts and designer labels that you will never get bored of,”
Whether you’re a Y2K girlie, a maximalist maestro, a hardcore minimalist or somebody who doesn’t follow trends, pieces that slot into the quiet luxury category are perfect for layering or pairing with your go-to style. High-quality, unfussy, elevated basics that will outlive every season for a long time.
7 items you need to get the 'Quiet Luxury' look:
1/7
Majsa Woven Vest
Remain Berger Christensen
Though waistcoats were the trend of the summer, I'm not writing them off for the winter season. Brown is the colour of the moment, and this piece would pair perfectly with some loose fitting dark jeans and some taupe or brown chunky trainers.
2/7
The Dallas Ankle Boots
Khaite
These boots first appeared in Khaite's AW21 collection, and have remained an influencer favourite season after season. I love the suede brown style, much less harsh than solid black.
3/7
Carlton High-Rise Straight-Leg Jeans
The Row
Wintery whites have been at the top of A-list fashion lists this season, so fear not that these investment jeans will gather dust in your wardrobe. Pair with a white cashmere jumper for the chicest cold-weather ensemble.
4/7
Mer Regenerative Wool Sweater
Reformation
Both Millie Bobby Brown and Taylor Swift are fans of Reformation's cashmere jumpers - is any more explanation needed? This dark cherry colourway is bang on trend right now. Channel your inner French girl and tie it around the shoulders over a crisp white shirt and snug-fitting straight-leg jeans.
5/7
Asymmetric Tailored Longline Coat
Because of Alice
For those wanting to get the look on a budget, this coat is utterly perfect. I could not believe this coat was around the £100 mark. The asymmetrical fastening and boxy holders help it stand out from the crowd.
6/7
Triomphe Sunglasses
Celine
Celine Triomphe sunglasses have flooded my social media feed this year, and rightly so, as they're seriously chic. This pair with a black logo amp up the 'quiet luxury' aesthetic.
7/7
55mm Pointed-toe Satin Mules
Farfetch
90s minimalism at its finest. The classic slip-on silhouette has been given a contemporary makeover, and I love the satin material to add to the elegance.
How we chose:
I chose pieces from brands that are known for creating luxury minimalistic pieces of high quality. Although this is a luxury round-up, I looked for pieces at various price points. I used my fashion expertise to pick out items that are modern, timeless and encapsulate the trend.
