Hyphenate Media Group, the content studio and media holding company founded by Eva Longoria and Banijay Americas chair Cris Abrego last fall, has unveiled its executive leadership team.
STX Entertainment president of scripted television and production Jada Miranda has been tapped as Hyphenate president of television, while joining her in the C-suite are chief strategy officer Karla Pita Loor and chief operating officer Alex Chang, who both hail from Banijay Americas (which made a founding strategic investment in the new company). Each will report jointly to Abrego and Longoria.

At STX, Miranda oversaw both domestic and international co-productions with companies including Netflix, SyFy and Prime Video. Her diverse experience as a development executive also includes comedy at HBO (Entrourage, The Comeback, How to Make It in America), drama at NBCUniversal (Hannibal, Grimm and Chicago Fire) and video game IP at Xbox Entertainment Studios (Halo).
“Jada’s impressive track record speaks for itself,” said Longoria, whose UnbeliEVAble Entertainment is Hyphenate’s first banner acquisition, in a statement. “With her vast network and studio experience across domestic and international co-productions and her deep talent relationships, she is the ideal leader to run Hyphenate originals. Cris and I are excited to count on her creativity and vision as we build our television business.”
Meanwhile, Pita Loor will oversee Hyphenate’s communications, public relations and brand development as part of her new role leading strategic planning and execution. A longtime trusted advisor of Abrego’s, she will step down from her position as exec vp of enterprise inclusion and social responsibility at Banijay Americas but continue to advise the company as an executive consultant. Chang’s most recent experience as Banijay Americas senior vp of finance and strategy leading investments such as its majority stake in Brazilian studio A Fabrica will come into play as he now heads finance and operations for Hyphenate’s own studio as well as all its media holdings. He previously worked for Quibi and Disney, while Pita Loor was chief development officer at the Television Academy (of which Abrego is now its chair).
“I’ve worked closely with Karla and Alex over the years at Banijay and have consistently counted on their partnership and professional acumen to bolster that business,” Abrego said in a statement. “Eva and I are thrilled to have them both join us on this venture and look forward to leaning on their dynamic leadership to deliver on the ambitious strategic and operational goals we have set across our studio business and all our holdings.”
