Northwestern’s all-time leading scorer, Boo Buie, has inked an Exhibit 10 deal with the Phoenix Suns following the conclusion of the 2024 NBA Draft on Thursday night, according to Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress.

Buie gauged the interest of several front offices as he had 16 pre-draft workouts, according to HoopsHype, including with NBA championship-contending teams such as the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder and Milwaukee Bucks.

The First-Team All-Big Ten honoree utilized his final year of collegiate eligibility this past season to lead Northwestern to the program’s first-ever consecutive March Madness appearances, boasting a sensational stat line of 19 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5 assists per game. Buie’s stellar play significantly transformed head coach Chris Collins’ program into one of the most formidable teams in the Big Ten.

This marked a stark turnaround from when the 24-year-old first entered Evanston — when Northwestern was considered a laughingstock of the Big Ten. Buie is now is able to walk away as the most decorated player in the program’s history.

Buie will look to utilize the Summer League and training camp to earn a spot on head coach Mike Budenholzer’s roster this year. However, as an undrafted free agent, the odds will be stacked against the former Northwestern standout. Even if Northwestern’s all-time leading scorer doesn’t make a difference in Budenholzer’s reserve unit, Buie could still earn valuable minutes with Phoenix’s G-League affiliate, the Valley Suns.
