Angelina Jolie Wore the Fall Staple I Pull Out the Second It Hits 60 Degrees

One-and-done for the win.

I’ve never been much of a summer girl. Maybe it’s because I naturally run hot, so mix that with New York City’s heat and humidity, and I basically feel like I’m burning up every single second of the day. Or maybe it’s because I was raised in Minnesota, where the winter’s get so cold, you naturally have to muster up some heat to prevent frostbite (we have lessons about this in school!). But, whatever the reason, I’m here for fall—and I’m here for fall fashion, especially Angelina Jolie’s wardrobe staple that I whip out the minute (nay, second), it gets below 60 degrees.

Jolie is the epitome of demure dressing (and, I guess I’ll go there…she’s the queen of mindful dressing, as well). She sticks to staple pieces—in neutral colorways—that can be worn season after season, so I guess it should come as no surprise that she stepped out in the unstoppable fall staple you can wear again and again—and again: a sweater dress

The actress’s sweater dress is knitwear perfection to a T. The tank top dress has a maxi silhouette, which offers ample leg coverage for when it’s cold out, but it’s still totally suitable for that in-between weather, too. The scoop neck adds a modern, elegant touch, while the flowy material looks as comfy as a hug. TL;DR? It’s everything you’d want in a knit dress, so I'm taking notes right now

She styled the knit maxi with a long-sleeve bolero jacket that hits on the Balletcore trend. TBH, I first thought her sweater dress had long sleeves because the jacket coordinated perfectly with the dress’ hue, but alas, it was just Jolie’s expert styling skills. She rounded out the look with brown, pointed-toe heels and oversized black sunglasses. So chic yet so easygoing, a.k.a., very demure. Love!

Sweater dresses are a saving grace for me, especially when the chilly mornings, hot afternoons hit. I don’t know how to dress during the transition months (read: September and October, especially), so a one-and-done piece like a sweater dress is something I can grab, put on, and run out the door with in total ease—and comfort. It’s also super simple to dress up; if you want a more elevated look, slip into pumps, add some statement accessories, and you have a nighttime look that’ll garner all the compliments.

All that to say, a sweater dress is a must for the season ahead. So, get a head start and shop some standout options below.
