Meghan Markle's social circle is continuing to shrink, a former royal butler has claimed.

The former Suits star has often mixed with A-list celebrities, but according to Paul Burrell, her group of friends is getting smaller, with her famous pals "dropping like flies".

The claim comes as Meghan and husband Prince Harry missed the "social event of the year" when Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, tied the knot last week. Many famous faces were in attendance, including Harry's brother, Prince William.

Burrell, who used to be the butler for Harry's mother, Princess Diana, told Closer!: "Harry and Meghan’s circle is getting smaller and smaller. I think the A-list stars are dropping like flies. Some already have done - Oprah no longer seems involved with them and some other celebrities have also dropped them."

He added: "Back in the day, the A-listers were riding on the moment - Harry and Meghan were the most popular couple in the country at one time, when they got married, but there’s since been a decline."

Burrell went on to claim Americans are starting to view the Sussexes as a "side show", with the publication claiming the likes of George Clooney and his wife Amal, and Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have turned down recent invites from the pair. Their apparent shuns come following rumours that David and Victoria Beckham were ignored by Meghan.

Despite the allegations, it's thought Meghan has built herself a close-knit circle of other famous friends including actresses, fashion designers, stylists, pilates pals and polo players' wives. When she launched her first product from her American Riviera Orchard brand, the Duchess received support of a number of famous faces, who shared the product online.

Those who received the limited-edition samples of her jam showed off the small jars with handwritten labels featuring the American Riviera Orchard logo and 'Montecito' underneath, as well as the words numbering which jar it is out of 50, indicating the batch of jam is a small production run.

Among them were long-time friend Abigail Spencer, who starred with Meghan on Suits, fashion designer Tracy Robbins and Delfina Blaquier, the wife of Argentinian polo player, Nacho Figueras.

The Mirror has approached Meghan's representatives for comment.
