Aiden McGeady has hilariously recalled an expletive-laden text message conversation he exchanged with current Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.

The pair worked together at Spartak Moscow for a brief period in 2012 when the Irish winger was plying his trade in Russia.

Emery departed the club that same year before taking over Sevilla in 2013. Shortly after leaving Spartak Moscow, Emery sent McGeady a text message out of the blue.

"We had pre-season in Spain," began McGeady on the Open Goal podcast, "He (Emery) had gone back to Sevilla, and I get a random text message from him just saying 'F*** you!!!'

"And I've showed one of the Argentinian centre-halves and I was like 'Emery's just text me this saying f*** you.'

"He was like 'f***'s that all about? Is he raging at you?' And I was like 'I don't know.'

"I just wrote back to him 'f*** you,' and then he wrote back again 'f*** you,' and then that was it done.

"Was bizarre man"
