Our Strategic Plan

In 2017, our college embarked on a strategic planning process to help us better tell our story both internally and externally. With a common focus and vision in mind, we have established our 2019-2024 Strategic Plan.

TLCS alumna Justine DeFrancesco penned a children's book to teach her students how to deal with emotions and build social skills in a post pandemic world.

  • For the past month, Kent State University has hosted 37 international graduate students as part of the Fulbright Pre-Academic Program, a monthlong immersion in American higher education and culture. The group, from 26 countries, arrived on the Kent Campus on July 21 and was scheduled to depart on Aug. 17 to begin their graduate programs at universities throughout the country.

  • Kent State students can stay fit and refine or learn new sport skills while developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The only prerequisite: Enrolling in any of the Physical Activity, Wellness and Sport (PWS) classes offered through the School of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies.

  • Michele McCombs, a second-grade teacher for Kent City Schools, believes the Becoming a Brave Teacher workshop came at just the right time for her to be that ‘teacher/leader’ who develops a support system of inclusiveness for the LGBTQ+ community.

  • We asked had several questions for Gershwin Davis, a professor from The University of the West Indies, who took a summer sabbatical in the Long-term Care Administration Program.

  • Two years ago, Cynthia Blinebery had an inkling she might have Parkinson’s. Her voice was weak, and her husband often asked her to repeat things. She ran out of breath when speaking and experienced tremors in her hands and fingers. Her father and aunt had Parkinson’s. A neurological exam confirmed her suspicion.

  • The Legacy Project matches college students with local elders through a shared interest to foster strong, intergenerational relationships that document the life stories of older adults, preserving their legacies for generations to come.
