As a Regional Manager within sales and marketing, I've found that one of the most effective tools to insure my manager and I are on the same page is by using the GROW model. Goal Reality Outcome Way Forward Set up a 1:1 with your manager and dive into the topic by asking what is the Goal, what is the reality (data, insights, expectations, deadlines, etc.), what does a successful outcome look like and then agreeing on next steps to move forward.
In the absence of clear direction from above, take the initiative to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals for yourself and your team. This self-leadership shows that you can navigate uncertainty and maintain productivity. By establishing these goals, you create a roadmap for success that aligns with your team's abilities and the overall objectives of your organization.
