COMMUNICATION! The most costly part of Talent is hiring incorrectly. Whether that be hiring someone that is not a right fit culturally or skilfully. When a hiring request falls in your lap- ensure you are briefing the role correctly, consider the below: Why are we hiring? What gaps are we missing in the team? Culture assessment? The candidates career roadmap? What will keep them engaged in their role? What will their day to day look like? What projects will they work on? What would the candidate like to get more exposure too? The depth of your questions you ask your hiring manager AND the candidate will save you a lot of time and money!

LinkedIn Recruiter also has added immense value as well. I have also benefitted from having an Alumni pool of ex -employees and circulating the job postings to that pool plus even the Interviewee candidates !

As a co-founder of a HR Outsourcing company , I believe it is important to do enough groundwork and plan strategically for the next few quarters before running to hire ! Lay the foundation right ! Optimize usage of Referral channels in-house and social media channels like LinkedIn to hire ! We also utilize our Alumni base and incentivize them and email out open roles and encourage them to refer candidates ! Also we maintain a candidate database which we keep warm and utilize .

Nowadays ATSs have helped a lot to reduce the repeated task, however please keep in mind if you use it wrongly it'll bring damage to your employer brand, which is a huge cost. - Use ATS to screen candidates, not to make hiring decisions. - Use ATS to collect data, not to discriminate. - Use ATS to personalize the candidate experience, not to automate it. Human recruiters still play an important role to build trust relationship between candidates with employer, and they're the key persons to drive the candidate journey, close the deal and onboard them.

All great suggestions here and common theme seems to be employee branding and employee referrals. To elaborate on the latter, I like to arrange coffee catch ups with employees I have hired usually about a month after their start date. This gesture is always appreciated by the new employee and also a great time to talk about upcoming talent needs and potential referrals from them.

I would also say that it is important to define what goes into TA cost. Is it only external support and sourcing channels or does it also include the TA team salary? There are several ways of looking into this: - Outsourcing - Creating a list of preferred vendors and negotiate strong T&Cs - Insource can also drive cost reductions in some cases and increase efficiencies at the same time - Collaborate with flex recruiters that charge less than a recruitment agency - Build a strong employer brand to attract and engage with top talents - create a referral program But most of all, organizations should not compromise on getting the right talent over reducing costs and keep a buffer to pay the price for the right candidate if needed.

It sounds counterproductive, especially for Executive Leadership Teams who aren’t usually used to investing in Talent Acquisition. Still, the best way to keep TA costs low is to invest in TA! The happier, more engaged, and more supported your Talent Acquisition Team is, the less rotation you’ll have! The more tools they have, the more time they can actually spend connecting and attracting the talent you want to hire.
