Many times I see candidates sabotage their chances by talking round in circles and not getting to the point. This is because they are making it up on the spot. The result of winging it is no logical order, repetition and confusion.

Be honest, saying "I am not sure" or "I don't know" is much much better than risking or guessing, which can cause you to be directly discarded as a candidate.

However, it's best to present a project that you're truly passionate about, not yet another calculator app or login screen or something generic that most people have. Show them an app you made because you wanted and/or needed it, and you've put passion in it.

A long time ago, my manager told me not to dress up in suit and tie, as it came across as "trying to hard" and trying to mask inexperience. That was as PM. That being said, I think in development you can get away with a lot more as you're less likely to be seen by end customers. That means company image is less of a concern when hiring. So balance is key. However this all depends on location... In Belgium a shirt and nice jeans should be fine. However other cultures could have different expectations. Have a look at the company website / LinkedIn / Social and see what employees are wearing. As you're trying to make a good first impression, try to stay well above the average.

Stay Courteous: Remain courteous and respectful in all interactions, regardless of the outcome. Maintain Contact: Even if you don't get the job, continue to network and maintain a positive relationship with the company for potential future opportunities.

Note that bigger companies typically take longer to get back to you. I've gone through procedures (first contact - signing) of between 2 weeks up to 4 months. I've also heard some companies purposely do not get back in touch as a test. If you don't call, then that means you're not really interested. However give them some time to process things. Like a week for small companies or 2 for bigger ones sounds realistic. If you're not going through to the next round, try and push for feedback. Learn from those and grow your interview skills. Oh... and don't take it personally, there's plenty of companies that are looking for sheep and mindless drones, so that doesn't mean you're not a good candidate.

I have taken many interviews over the years and if you want to crack interviews in top 5% companies, here are my takeaways: #1) Read and understand the Job description thoroughly. #2) Always qualify a response with your implementation experience. Interviewers want to know about your exposure. #3) Never lie on your resume. It's very easy for sr. folks in the panel to catch inconsistencies in your resume. #4) Be extremely professional in your interview. I have seen so many candidates taking interviews using phone, in noisy environments and not ensuring their A/V works prior to interview. #5) Never give a response for more than 1 min straight. Lastly, the interviewer is also praying for your success as he is also under pressure to hire. :)

Demonstrating knowledge of their technologies and how you can contribute to ongoing work shows initiative and preparedness. Additionally, showcasing your understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile or DevOps, and how they could apply to the company’s workflow can impress interviewers. It’s also beneficial to be aware of industry trends and how they might impact the company, positioning yourself as a forward-thinking candidate.

Before getting an interview - Update my resume and get it reviewed - Networking and providing company-specific tailored resume - Brush up the basics, be confident about it - Prepare DSA and SD as everyone has that round - Create a portfolio projects to showcase - Understand the nature of the company and the reason for the vacancy - Be prepared for behavioral questions B. After getting an interview call - Talk to recruiter to know the interview process - Get confident on technical and non-technical interviews - Make a two-way communicative interview - Relate your answers to your experience - Ask questions about the organization, position, work, culture, and process - Showcase your experience on relevant field

In addition, think about how your diverse background or extracurricular activities can add value to the role and the company. Be prepared to discuss these aspects to differentiate yourself from other candidates. Remember, it's not just about meeting the requirements but also about demonstrating why you're the best fit for the team.

You need to go around HR. They do more bad than good. (Sorry) Do not participate in competition. To use this method, you must be interesting to the top IT guys in that company. You can contribute HOWTO and example articles to Azure cloud programmers, for example. Provide PRO only examples. No simplifications. Whole world will know about you, immediately. OR, create Youtube video with your robot. OR, create YOUR Smart Home with AI. Top IT guys read and watch videos from time to time. You need to create interest in you. However, after these activities, after some 2 years, you will start your own business. And you will not need them anymore. Smart Homes and Smart Cities will be really something very soon.
