You're racing against the clock to complete a design project. How do you decide which tasks to tackle first?

Evaluating the urgency and their implication to overall project's success is very important. Some project eventhough base on the project timeline is alarming, but the implication to overall and physical execution of the project can be compromised. Criticality in delivering on going, safety related and in physical execution stage must be prioritise over project involving improvement and feasibility study. This is applicable for the same available resources/manpower planning for multiple project running in parallel.

In the realm of project management, the ability to accurately assess the urgency of tasks is a fundamental skill that can make or break the success of a project. When time is of the essence, determining which tasks require immediate attention is crucial for maintaining momentum and ensuring timely completion. One of the tools help in assessing urgency and prioritizing is: 1. Priority Matrix (Eisenhower Matrix): A tool that helps categorize tasks based on their urgency and importance.Which divide tasks into four categories: urgent and important, not urgent but important, urgent but not important, and neither urgent nor important. Focus first on tasks that are both urgent and important.

Backwards Planning, what will get me to my goal in the most efficient way possible. Setting time intervals for each component.

To evaluate the impact of each task of the final design, you can break down the tasks into successive bits and sum them into a total percentage. Then attach weight to represent the part of cumulative percentage to each of the tasks by either assessing the time spent that would be spent on each task or the cost of each task. The tasks with the higher time or cost will have more impact on the design in general, so more priority would be placed on them. This Work/Cost breakdown structure will help to allocate resources effectively when designing.

In my personal opinion when coming to project with very short deadline Start with tasks that are really hard or need a lot of time. This way, you can fix any problems early and make sure everything fits together smoothly, like doing a hard puzzle piece first so the rest are easier. also try to subdivide into small task or sprints and prioritizing tasks based on its impact over final design

When complex matters are confronted early on it saves the design team from surprises which could lead to reworks which most projects would not want to spend significant amount time on.

If we arrange proper resources based on next process to be done it's easy to complete the process based on design with in time mostly

Also, when designing and racing against the clock, avoid unnecessary information when designing. Streamline workflow and always find use the quickest and most effective way to represent that information in the design to buy yourself more time.

when running on short time we have to try and make thing simple rather than complicating it by adding more features we have to prioritize making something tangible and to use for the purpose you can calculate that with Eisenhower Matrix by simply listing thing down in that matrix and do the part which falls in important and urgent
