We most commonly use AI to source target companies and find lookalikes. I won’t say you need AI to do this as much of this is available on crunchbase in terms of sector/company targets but you can always take a list of 50 companies who have X in common and ask for 50 more company names to add to your heatmap. I find it’s bit of miss on nuance—company size, strength of the business, total headcount, location of teams etc. Ultimately, you’ll have to filter those and only human eyes will be effective in parsing the data with the level of scrutiny and subtlety that we require as headhunters to determine targets.
