I work on tracking and prioritizing cybersecurity measures and here’s what I learned in the past year: Thinking myself like a hacker and evaluate the risk by doing regular assessment on assets, knowing their status, ensuring compliance, network monitoring, multi-layer defense functionality, incident response plan and failover exercises including back up, testing those backups to make sure they work in case of disasters. Prioritizing based on the risk and taking appropriate steps can keep us away from many problems ….

I think there shouldn’t be any excuses in performing updates as soon as they are made available. Understandable that it might risky but testing these patches is always the best way to keep the infrastructure up to date.
