Consider attending a trade show like the National Restaurant Show. A trade show is one of the few times a collective of attendees will be under one roof. Whether it’s as an attendee or as an exhibitor look to make the most of your show. Plan ahead, work with a good exhibit partner, research the organization, and market that you will be there!

Sometimes “Picking Apples off the tree”you can fill a lot of baskets. One of the most successful networking events was recruiting Chefs out of The Culinary Institute of America at their amazing Campus in New York. We were looking to fill multiple positions for the aggressive growth of multiple concepts. At this type of event you have morning set up then you have groups of students coming out to meet all the recruiters. You get to meet first year students and those who will be graduating soon. You are able to pick up some key players from these events but even more importantly you are able to build relationships with both students and Faculty. Each day you spend time with the other Hospitality groups and can build meaningful relationships.

Another way to build your culinary network is to host your own events, such as pop-ups, workshops, tastings, or demos. These events can showcase your skills, creativity, and personality, and attract potential clients, partners, and collaborators. You can also invite other chefs to co-host or guest star in your events, and create cross-promotional opportunities. To host a successful event, plan ahead, set a budget, choose a venue, market your event, and follow up with the attendees.

In addition to attending and hosting events, you can also join online communities that cater to culinary professionals.
