Defining what good looks like on the other side and finding the measures that can show that before you get into building makes measuring on the other end much easier. And, to be clear, it doesn’t always have to be some concrete, financial business metic. Granted, if that’s all you do, that’s a problem. However, it’s also okay if you’re measuring things within your control that are variables in a bigger equation even if they aren’t the final desired result. The point is you defined and aligned on those measures ahead of time.
