Ideal for common languages with easily accessible graphics. Machine: Flexible hardware with full VM control, ideal for complex applications that require specific tools or hardware access. Startup time is slower and takes more setting. macOS: A native macOS environment for Apple-specific apps, with limited availability and images. Windows: The native Windows environment for Windows apps is now only available via orbs (community packages).

Integrate with version control (e.g., Git). Use YAML for configuration. Implement parallelism in jobs. Cache dependencies and artifacts. Use Docker for consistent environments. Secure with environment variables. Manage and store build artifacts. Set up build notifications. Integrate external tools and services. Enforce security best practices. Document processes and train the team.

Make sure you use appropriate APIs, make sure you are using DevOps and DevSecOps best practices. Document very well to make debugging easier.

Just a few comments about using the executors that happened to some of my clients during consulting sessions: 1) some "Docker-in-Docker" limitations: when using the Docker executor, running Docker inside Docker (for building or running containers within your CI jobs) introduced complexities and performance issues. It was not simple to debug, especially when it is about hardware internal parameters due to VPS. 2) On Windows you can meet also challenges, such as path length limitations, case-insensitive file systems, or differences in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell vs. Bash).
