That means you need to show that you can not only focus on the key aspects of a problem but also articulate or clearly explain the problem, all the actions taken, and the result using the STAR method. Candidates who fail to use the STAR method tend to make ambiguous or confusing statements that detract from an efficient response. This also shows your analytical approach to problem-solving.

Here's the thing about "problem-solving" in cybersecurity: it's not just about the solution you found, it's about the process you followed to get there. The "So What?" Factor: Don't just describe the problem, explain the impact. Did your solution prevent a data breach? Save the company money? Make the significance clear. The "Beyond the Tech" Mindset: Was it a purely technical fix, or did you have to navigate organizational challenges, communicate with stakeholders, or manage a crisis? These soft skills are equally important. "Lessons Learned" Matter: What did you learn from the experience? How would you approach a similar problem differently today? This shows growth and a commitment to continuous improvement.

We interact with and communicate with stakeholders from various backgrounds, so you'll need to know how to communicate better so the audience can understand the message. You can demonstrate this in various ways, but explaining to an interviewer how you would respond to somebody on both sides of the technical spectrum is a great idea. If you can only communicate with a technical or non-technical stakeholder, you will be less valuable, especially in positions requiring frequent communication with stakeholders.

That is how i quote to apply as well to interviews, if you cannot communicate effectively what you are about, your skills, competencies etc. it will be hard to impress during an interview.

The most important thing you can do is to be confident but not over confident. Know the role you are interviewing for. Keep your introduction brief, remember it's an introduction and not your biography. Highlight major accomplishments, individual projects that you undertook and proved important. Be clear about what you are talking about. Discuss about case studies and go as deep as possible while you discuss your case study. Follow the STAR method, S-Situation, T-Task, A-Action & R- Result
