Choose entrepreneurship! Event planners must be fantastically skilled and savvy in many aspects of business. Use those skills to go into business for yourself. Budgeting, marketing, coordinating, consulting, planning, managing, problem-solving and innovating are all squarely within the event planner’s skill set. Put them to use in niche entrepreneurial fields. Manage complex projects. Consult on building and training teams. Become a professional organizer. Teach others how to apply skills like yours to various industries. I have supervised several event planners who have all gone on to success in different fields, from an accomplished writer and an organized consultant to a creative entrepreneur.
