How do you show the skills and competencies that employers want in mechanical engineers?

Com o decorrer da minha experiência durante as seleções que já realizei, vejo que muitas das vezes as empresas fornecem as descrições das vagas, porém elas querem exigir competências que muitas das vezes são ganhas com anos de experiência trabalhadas, acaba sendo uma frustração para quem está recém formado. As empresas tem os pontos que são importantes para as vagas, mas deveriam ter um pouco mais de flexibilidade durante os processos de seleção, pois o engenheiro recém formado ainda esta em fase de adquirir experiência e conhecimento. Para minhas entrevistas sempre procuro ser uma pessoa pró-ativa, carismática, evitar explicações que sejam muito técnicas para evitar confusões é parafrasear quando não compreendo algo.

Make sure you understand and know what is supposed to be done. Follow work procedures laid down by the company, if any work policy attached to the task follow is there, follow it accordingly. Always impress your employer by the quality of work you do not by the words of mouth you can say

Transformational Leadership: Illustrate driving change within organizations. Collaborative Teamwork: Emphasize cross-functional cooperation. Thought Leadership: Industry expertise and contributions. Global Experience: Experience in diverse markets and cultures. Continuous Development: Commitment to ongoing learning. Recognition: Highlight awards and accolades. This succinct format captures the essence of your executive skills and competencies as a engineer.

I agree with this statement in part but not in full. My experience in the industry has shown that the job descriptions are rarely written by those qualified to do the job they require you for. You should absolutely know the role and always remember that the choices you make, during similar roles, will show those around you whether you can perform in the role or not. It isn't what you say you know that is valuable in this industry but what you prove you can do. In short, if you've worked hard and enjoy the role then it will show in your work. Regurgitating Googled industry knowledge is over used and plain. Let the pride in your work show what you can do and don't profess to know things that you don't but always be willing to learn.

Conhecendo os requisitos da vaga, o candidato consegue alinhar as suas experiências. Com essa primeira análise o candidato consegue tomar a decisão de se inscrever ou não. Caso o profissional se identifique, é hora de estudar a empresa para verificar se seus objetivos estão alinhados.

This is very important for those who have a genuine interest and ability in the role. If you are confident in your work, and this is evident in your background achievements, then you should absolutely showcase this to the employer. However, in the engineering industry, be aware that those who can do the job can spot those who can't in the very first couple of tasks someone is set to. It is absolutely vital that you do not profess to know skills which you are not proficient in. The industry will gravitate towards the honesty and teach you skills which you find lacking. Always showcase your strengths and be self-aware about your gaps.

Conhecer a função ao qual está concorrendo é muito importante, principalmente se tiver tido experiências semelhantes em cargos anteriores. Com a experiência anterior ficará mais fácil expressar suas habilidades durante a entrevista de emprego.

While I feel that soft skills are vital to any engineering role; they are not, in fact, difficult to prove. A mechanical diagnostician's entire role revolves around these skills. The job is impossible without them. Every single mechanical task carried out by a qualified and competent engineer is then quantified in job reports and other documentation. In my opinion, you cannot demonstrate or explain your soft skill aptitude at any point before the interview. An employer for a mechanical engineering position will establish this during your interview. Be direct, be honest and give clear examples of times you used these skills while relating to the role in question. You'll find that you use them more than you realise.

Com a evolução dos softwares as habilidades técnicas estão se igualando entre os profissionais, com isso a necessidade de desenvolver pessoas que se comunicam de forma clara e que conseguem trabalhar em equipe está se tornando um desafio diário dentro das empresas. Profissionais que desenvolvem essas técnicas conseguem se manter e evoluir no mercado de trabalho de forma mais ágil e exponencial.

Professional development is, without a doubt, the most important aspect of any profession. Your desire to better yourself, your drive and passion for your work and your want to drive results is paramount. My experience has shown that employers are less concerned with how much you know about the industry and about their company and more concerned with your ability to deliver results. I have worked with people with more qualifications than I can count but who couldn't deliver adequate results and I have worked with under-qualified engineers who are some of the best I've seen. Showcase how you can produce results in a safe and competent manner and the company is likely to take more interest in you as a candidate.

I could not agree more. An engineer should always be willing to receive feedback from those around them. Its how we develop and get better. However, you should be very open to constructive criticism. I've had apprentices show me things I didn't know and I've taken that on board. Leave your pride at the door and go in with an "every day is a school day" attitude. Feedback and scrutiny is absolutely vital to development. Shutting yourself off from that is to starve your professional development of the food it needs to flourish. We all started at the bottom and it was constructive criticism, harsh mentors, rough foremen and tough lessons that made us into the engineers we are today.

I would like to add the following 2 more points to the above. * Follow up & exploration of possibilities within the field. * stay updated and skill Upgrading to market requirements.

In this industry the ability to receive constructive criticism and feedback is important but the true value comes from knowing how and where to apply it. Feedback can be positive or negative but it should have these key componets. It is given at a useful time, it is clear, specific, detailed and a path to improvement has been revealed. If the feedback is truly constructive basically beneficial towards personal development. It should illuminate any areas that need improvement while the recepient has a clear understanding how to apply it.

Look at descriptions for the jobs you aspire too. During a performance review highlight how you showed that knowledge or skill. Also try to create your own new work if you have a good idea; assemble a team, prove the concept, outline a scope and funding. Don't sit back and rely on your manager to tell you what to do. The more experience you have the more you are expected to be self-reliant.

Only tailoring resume to the job description and highlighting skills will work up-to the candidate’s initial screening requirements and land an interview for you only. It will not work to convert the interview into an offer of employment. The only way is to understand everything in detail, understand technical informations and requirements of all materials in your field , attend technical courses for multiple techniques, calculations, softwares, engage with other engineers and support them in their tasks so you can get hands on experience on specific skills. Most importantly, you need to be with motivated engineers so don’t keep updated and informed always.
