Based on our over 20 yrs of being remote centric , the key is to build a culture in which people feel more connected and trusting, compared to in-office 1) Utilize real time communication tools such as chat and video 2) Default to video when you so you see each other, critically putting the video on. 3) Encourage people to show their home, so they are bringing their whole selves to co. Celebrate when their are personal interruptions such as the dog barking As people get to know each other better, they trust & engage more. 4) When anyone is in a remote position everyone should communicate through the video app. Don't have side conversations with the people who are in the room with you as these make the remote people feel left out.

The article is good and provides an action plan for when productivity and motivation decline. However, in my opinion, we often forget to write about the most important aspect emphasized by Professor Edwards Deming. We need to LOVE people and STRIVE for perfection. To achieve such an ambitious goal, it's important for us to be able to apply management techniques to our own internal, individual, emotional, and conscious processes. We must deeply understand why we work in one business or another and use our efforts to make this world a better place. Not because it sounds nice, but because it will be a natural external response to the question "Why".
