What are the main drivers of the current demand for electric vehicles?

EV do not emit any tailpipe gases, so these are great alternatives for reducing the concentration of air pollutants in urban centers. Plus, 2W EV feature wise is now quite rich, with more than required range, IoT rich and good quality built. Plus 15-20% Government subsidies driving the demand

Many vehicle manufacturers are also reducing the emissions associated with the manufacturing of batteries, which are generally higher compared to manufacturing gasoline vehicles. Volvo is targeting 2030 to deliver a vehicle that produces no emissions while operating and produces no emissions in manufacturing and delivering all components of the vehicle.

I believe that EV can be part of a new customer behavior that can increase the level of responsibility towards energy and resources. Electric car are an important piece of the solution regarding emissions reduction if there is more awareness about energy production. EV can be close to climate neutral if charge comes from clean energy.

People not buying electric vehicles for lack of cheap and clean electricity provision and not installing renewable sources because of inefficient use of their production. Neighbourhoods particularly suffer from their prevailing mode of transport: privately-owned petrol-driven vehicles on tires; therefore overwhelmed by noise, pollution, traffic jams and derived worsening of life-style, property value, tourism, commerce etc. These neighbours could be intensive producers of renewable energy and also its intensive consumers in electric vehicles, endowed with precious storage.

In Pakistan, EVs are much more needed due to 50% - 60% cost savings, Commute within the metropolitan cities will be easier for people and hassle free in Traffic Jams. EVs are the future, early birds (EV Users) in Pakistan should promote the usage of EVs by mentioning what is up there for the users. I believe that charging EVs can be one problem users might face, but infrastructure is being made by various public and private sectors which will eventually grow and become available all over the country.

Consumer is not able to calculate the cost of the fuel that is electricity! Hence they almost think it as free.... Replacement cost of battery is not calculated... Purchase cost is too high.... It's too early for such high numbers....

Regarding the cost saving opportunities or possibilities drivers (customers) must have a vision on medium - long time horizon and - mainly - a strong commitment on the concept of Impact. It is a cultural choice: if you really decide to reduce the impact, in term of mobility, you need to measure and to compare (and monetize in terms of cost of emissions) the miles you drive with fuel cars with the miles you drive with EV. Even if there is the help of incentives, in the short run EV needs more money, in the medium and Long run EV can save money.

The lower centre of gravity and more rigid design of the vehicle floor reduces the risk of roll-overs and improves the overall safety of passengers of electric vehicles.

If We think that an EV is not only a car but It is an extraordinary moving machine that collect, analyze and distribute data it is possibile to imagine a new kind of relationship between performance, innovation and any single driver contribute. Forgetting for a while the topic of privacy EV can have an extraordinary contribution of knowledge that come from any single users, in many different situation.

There is a clear trend about EV that is supported and managed by the industry. People like EV for the “positive image” and because they would contribute to protect the environment. The role and the opportunity for the industry is to create an ecosystem of services and producer to measure and manage the real contribution to sustainability.

Consumers also appreciate the ability to recharge at home, waking up each day with a full range that can support their daily driving needs.

There is always a consumer segment who follow others, let others try first, if it's successful, we'll follow. In Pakistan, this trend is 90% followed. Once people get into it, learn it and aware of all the if and buts, Consumer preference will change to EVs very fast. All automakers need to focus on awareness.

I think the IRA is a great example of legislation "killing two birds with one stone". On one hand, it is promoting the consumer adoption of EVs via incentives. And also by incentivizing the ecosystem to decouple from China and to create a regional supply chain.

There would be a great opportunity, for companies that choose EV, to create a real integration between car management performances and ESG Rating performances. It doesn’t only means to measure emissions but to measure and value sustainable driving, resource management, lifetime car value.

It is time to look at EV non only like vehicle with a different kind of engine but as a new way to get into new mobility.
