From my experience, it’s crucial to understand its limitations. MBTI primarily offers insights into personality preferences, not definitive answers. It’s based on self-reported responses, which can be influenced by current moods or situations. Therefore, while the results can guide understanding of one’s personality traits, they might not always be entirely accurate. However, where MBTI shines is in its capacity to foster self-awareness and aid in coaching. It provides a framework to understand different personality types, which can be extremely useful for personal development.

I am no expert in the field, I try to help and answer queries of people in my social circle. Over the years, working with people, observing various personalities in capacity of managers, supervisors , mentors , colleagues, my kids/nephews/ their friends and my parents, my learning is that any model that tries to categorize personalities into only few personality types may be oversimplifying individuals who often exhibit a range of traits and interests, making it difficult to neatly fit them into a single category.

Another aspect I observed with some of the models is that there is little room to factor in regional or cultural aspects.
