Não há forma melhor do que sentar com cada um, individualmente, estando aberto para ouvir, compreender e se colocar à disposição para apoiar. Usar técnicas de PNL para se conectar e ser humano, sair da posição de superior e se colocar no lugar do outro, demonstrando também suas vulnerabilidades. Cada pessoa é única e tem maneiras distintar de aprender, se motivar e se engajar, é preciso compreender isso.

As a leader, avoid using a cookie cutter approach. One size does not fit all. “Care” enough to gain an understanding of the different styles and engage with team members according to their wants and needs, as is ethical. Make this quality investment in the team. Model the value of teamwork in word and deed. The team members are watching and listening. Directly or indirectly, they are likely to respond accordingly.

Test can be very subjective and may change the results based on persons feelings. Best is to seek feedback on how you show up with others. One need to have courage to receive feedback at the same time the feedback giver need to be Authentic. Consider this as a developmental excecise

To connect with the team better , we have to check few basic Pre requisites - 1. Have we connected with them personally before professionally - do we know their human side and their aspirations , ambitions , hobbies , likes and dislikes etc 2. Have we celebrated with them an occasion , a festival , a birthday , an anniversary , a joining party , a Friday or anything which is out of work 3. Have we established Trust , faith and belief with them by setting examples , taking their side , uplifting their morale and giving them time . If these Pre requisites are done , I am sure much ground is covered and things will fall in place . But it not , it’s time to go back to these 3 points.

Difficult! Some people I have considered to display low empathetic skills consider themselves to have high skills! One to check is to truly listen to another person. With genuine interest. Listening, not just to the words they use, but to what they do not say (yep, I did say that!). And can you repeat back what you hear/sense and get enthusiastic nods of agreement from the speaker before they eagerly explain more? Incidentally not having strong empathetic skills can limit your success as a manager/leader (unless there is someone that takes on that duty/responsibility on your behalf) but having too much empathy can also be debilitating. It means you can take on problems that belong to others and burn out as a result.

Empathetic leaders are great listeners. Listen first. Listen to understand. Don't just wait to get your word in. We know when someone is truly listening, and when they're not. So, simply maintain presence and listen to what someone has to say. Develop a bond with someone by connecting with them and getting to know them socially. Put yourself out there and show people you care. Work on building your self-confidence through experiences like this, while also building up a growth mindset through positive affirmations, self-reflection and understanding your motivational drivers to help others.

Active Listening: By focusing on the speaker, maintaining eye contact, and paraphrasing their words to show understanding. 2.Put Yourself in Their Shoes: Try to imagine yourself in the other person's situation to understand their feelings, thoughts, and perspectives. 3. Practice Perspective-Taking: Engage in perspective-taking exercises where you consciously consider how others might perceive a situation or experience. 4. As others have said. Listen. Deeply. And also review conversations later as a neutral observer. Go to what is known as the third position. See yourself and the other party in your mind's eye, or play the conversation on a cinema screen in front of you. You and they are in positions 1 and 2 and you, as the observer in the cinema seat, are in position 3. Now play the conversation and consider and review the motivations of each 1 and 2 as the conversation unfolds. Not only will you learn more about the other person but, probably, more about yourself! A great way to increase EQ and empathy is to increase your self-awareness and practice greater empathy to yourself.

First, it’s critical for leaders to create a space for conversations—and to ensure those conversations actually take place. In my work with leaders, I encourage them to focus on two aspects of communication: quality and frequency. This starts in one-on-one meetings with planned, structured touchpoints. It’s reinforced by the moments throughout the week where managers and direct reports can briefly connect on tasks, personal matters, or personnel-related matters. Empathy is what increases the probability that these conversations take place because it’s always showing care, concern, and devotion toward the needs of the person you’re communicating with.

The secret to more empathy lies in listening. Curiosity is the backbone to all empathy and the key to arriving at this to to actively listen to understand (vs reply.) When people feel seen and heard, rapport builds as does trust.

Empathetic Listening is the only way to become a great leader. Listening , not only through ears but through eyes also. Keep your eyes open for others along with your ears. Another thing which one requires in this process is patience. One should have ample amount of patience for Listening. Listen to understand, not to reply only.

Connecting with your team is essential for effective leadership. Empathy is a powerful tool for bridging the gap and building stronger relationships. Pay attention to your team members' thoughts, feelings, and concerns. Show genuine interest in what they have to say and validate their experiences. Try to understand things from their perspective. Consider their backgrounds, experiences, and emotions when making decisions or giving feedback. As a leader, you can cultivate empathy by practicing active listening and imagining yourself in your team member's shoes. When you are clarifying your expectations, it is always a good idea to get some feedback on what are their expectations of you as a leader. It is not about whether they are right or wrong. It's about them being heard.

Two of the tools that I usually use are: 1. One on one meetings with team members to get feedback on issues/blockers and provide support 2. Retrospective is another powerful tool - to get insights from the team. It provides space for the team to surface the major issues and blockers. There are many different retrospective formats. It can be also a great team building tool to improve the culture and team dynamics.

Cultivate self-awareness: Enhance your self-awareness to better understand your own emotions, triggers, and biases. Recognize how your emotions and behaviors impact others and strive to regulate your responses effectively. Practice humility: Approach leadership with humility, acknowledging that you don't have all the answers and that you're open to learning from others. Adopting a humble attitude fosters trust, openness, and collaboration within your team. Lead by example: Demonstrate empathy in your leadership by modeling empathetic behaviors and attitudes for your team. Show vulnerability, authenticity, and compassion in your interactions, inspiring others to do the same.

Según mi experiencia para que el liderazgo basado en la empatía funcione: El Lider: -Autoescucharse. -Si algo lo supera, buscar ayuda y levantar la mano. -Trabajar puertas abiertas sin crear barreras. -Preguntar en qué puede sumar/ayudar. -Ser observador e intervenir cuando detecte que a un miembro del equipo le pasa algo. Nacemos siendo empáticos, solo debemos recordarlo y trabajarlo y llevarlo a todos los entornos de nuestra vida, sobre todo en el entorno laboral.
