Based on our own experience ... Get involved in IT projects at universities: Collaborate with universities on IT projects that involve corporate data sets to encourage new perspectives and innovative approaches to data technology challenges. Host internal hackathons: Organize internal company hackathons that focus on exploring innovative, data-driven solutions and encourage cross-functional collaboration and creativity among team members. Conduct comprehensive data analysis: Dive deep into the data set to uncover hidden patterns, trends and insights that can inspire innovative solutions and approaches to data engineering problems.

From my experience in a big-data team: Working in a diverse team consisting of developers, data scientists and analysts fosters a rich environment for brainstorming innovative ideas: Conduct brainstorming sessions within the mixed team to develop innovative ideas and approaches. Encourage experimentation with different technologies, tools and methods to explore new possibilities. Emphasize the importance of prototyping and testing different solutions to evaluate their effectiveness. Foster a culture that values creativity, risk-taking and continuous improvement to drive innovation.

Before to implement any solution; verify it is worth to waste time and resources! 1) Evaluate how innovation or trends affect in what space of data engineering world: data modeling, data architecture, orchestation, data ingestion, data pipeline, data integration, data quality, metadata management, data catalog, etc. 2) Detect and evaluate how these options help to solve any current problems in data environment, reduce cost it or give more competitive in you company. 3) Generate and document the criterios will use to evaluate all solutions. 4) Genera a PoC and prototype in small scale for each experiment and evaluate it with critera. 5) Document the result of all experiment: take evidences for each criteria in each experiment.

To best communicate and collaborate ... Work in a diverse team with developers, data scientists and analysts to leverage different perspectives and expertise to drive innovative solutions through brainstorming sessions. Work closely with stakeholders and clients from the outset to align solutions with their expectations and needs to ensure relevance and value.
