In today’s fast-paced business environment, agility is more than just a buzzword—it's a necessity. At the heart of true business agility lie two foundational principles: collaboration and communication. These aren’t just nice-to-haves; they are essential drivers that enable teams to adapt quickly to change and deliver continuous value. As CTOs, our role in fostering these principles is crucial. The Agile Manifesto emphasizes "individuals and interactions over processes and tools," and this rings truer than ever. Without strong communication channels and a collaborative mindset, even the best-laid plans can falter. It's up to us to create and nurture environments where transparent communication and cross-functional collaboration thrive. When we do this, we empower our teams to navigate uncertainty, respond to customer needs, and innovate in real time. These are the types of conversations we have twice a month in the 7CTOs Growth Group Coaching program. If you're interested in joining these conversations, head on over to https://7ctos.com/growth and apply/ #Agile #CTO #Leadership #BusinessAgility #Collaboration #Communication

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Michael Saul, who died today after a 5 year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife and 3 children. He touched the hearts of so many at 7CTOs. His vigor and passion for a transformed technology leader forms the DNA for our organization today. Michael co-founded 7CTOs with Etienne de Bruin in 2013 and created the blueprint for a peer group experience that so many CTOs and technology leaders still belong to. He was our very first facilitator and with entrepreneurial resilience got our first peer groups going in cities around the USA. It's hard to imagine a world without your sweet voice Michael. Rest in peace. And rest knowing that your work continues onward. https://lnkd.in/gsR_GQ-d

Too many decisions in business are made emotionally, or based on inaccurate or incomplete data. This is a strong sign of ineffective leadership, but more importantly it erodes trust with our teams. We've all heard the phrase "People don't leave bad jobs, they leave bad bosses." But when they do, guess who's responsible for hiring the next person? 😳 Now, of course that phrase is hyperbolic and not all employee attrition can be attributed to bad leadership — and in fact, there are plenty of good, healthy reasons for a person to part ways with a company. But there's a reason that phrase still rings true for so many people. A disheartening number of people find themselves looking for new jobs as a result of a manager who is unsupportive, uncommunicative, micromanaging, or disrespectful, making the job unbearable regardless of its other positive aspects. To make matters worse — or at least complicated — many times the organizational telemetry of bad management is sporadic and potentially buried. Resignations may not happen very often (and even when they do, even the most earnest attempts at exit interviews are not likely to yield much useful information), culture and engagement surveys are anonymous by nature and may not provide insights into small teams (and are very infrequent), and power dynamics can affect the otherwise natural flow of feedback. With employee-to-manager ratios sometimes being 8:1 or more, managers hold a tremendous amount of leverage over a company's culture. We owe it to our teams to maintain an unwavering standard of quality when it comes to the leadership we expect in our managers. To this end, executives and other managers-of-managers should keep a constant pulse on the organization through tools such as skip-levels. 360-degree feedback systems are also critical to ensure that managers receive feedback from employees, peers, and other managers. All of that said, I do believe that most managers are well-intentioned, growth-oriented people. I wouldn't have such a passion for what I do otherwise. But I do believe that management is hard, and most managers find themselves ill-equipped and ill-prepared to do right by their teams. And it's our responsibility to create an environment that makes people want to stay. #leadership #management #feedback ♻️ If you found this useful and think others might as well, please repost for reach!

Imagine how much productivity your team loses each time your Engineering team has to push a part of your software deployment manually? Automation and consistency are key! We'll be exploring these topics and more in this week's 7CTOs Growth Group Coaching session when we tackle the CTO Levels Deploy block. In addition to our group coaching sessions, each of our attendees take a deep block-level assessment each month to understand where their team can evolve so that they can create a clear action plan. If you want to join these kinds of group coaching sessions, and take these assessments to understand clearly where you are, then apply to join. It's only $300/month for 2 group coaching sessions.
