In the 1910s and 1920s, West 9th Street transformed from residential to commercial and mixed-use buildings. Market Street's success spilled into the neighboring streets, and in 1927, 216 West 9th Street became the home of Gewher Piano Company, one of the oldest commercial establishments in the area. The building played a significant role in the commercialization of the 9th Street Corridor. During the demolition of our 801 Market Street Building, our team unearthed pressed metal tin panel ceilings concealed beneath layers of dropped ceilings. Under the direction of our general contractor MP Diversified Contractors, diligent efforts were made to restore the tin. This involved delicately removing the tin by hand and meticulously extracting nails with pliers to avoid harming the historic tin details. To seamlessly integrate the historic charm with the contemporary apartment aesthetic, we opted to paint all the historic tin white in our living rooms. It's the combination of diligence, precision, and an unwavering commitment to preserving the past that has transformed this dream into reality! 📸: @bluebirdmediallc
