AAVantgarde Bio has been selected by StartupItalia magazine as one of Italy's 10 most innovative companies of the year. The list was unveiled at #SIOS23 after voting by the magazine's editorial team and a panel made up of over 120 StartupItalia Open Summit jurors. #SIOS23 is a top Italian startup event, organized by StartupItalia, this year it was hosted with the Italian Stock Exchange in Milan. On stage at #SIOS23, Natalia Misciattelli Mocenigo Soranzo, CEO of AAVantgarde Bio, and Paola Pozzi, Partner at Sofinnova Partners, spoke about the company, which was spun out of research at the Tigem in Pozzuoli, Naples. The company is dedicated to the development of gene therapies for hereditary retinal diseases. It raised €61 million in a Series A financing, the largest-ever round for an Italian biotech company.
