Congratulations to the legendary Eva Paterson, the ABA CRSJ's 2024 Thurgood Marshall Award Honoree. After her moving acceptance speech, she stayed on stage to sing with The Coolerators, a band of celebrated civil rights lawyers and law professors. So glad I made it! In addition, I got to sit with the courageous Judge Jason Sengheiser who ordered the release of Christopher Dunn last month after finding him actually innocent of a crime for which he was incarcerated for 34 years. Recent American Bar Association Action: Resolution 607, which urges governmental entities to eschew broadened involuntary civil commitment standards for addressing unhoused people with mental health disabilities, was passed by the ABA House of Delegates this week!
