August 1-7 is World Breastfeeding Week (WBW)! #WBW is a global campaign to raise awareness and galvanize action on themes related to breastfeeding. Breast/chestfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival. (WHO). Yet, many people experience barriers to breastfeeding that can include age, access to nutrition, lack of lactation support, social judgment, and much more. (ACOG) Others choose not to breast/chestfeed and that is their choice. Regardless of whether or not someone can physically or decides to breastfeed/chestfeed, we continue to support breastfeeding and chestfeeding as options for parents. All people, whether they breastfeed/chestfeed or not deserve information, education, and resources. To learn more, visit https://waba.org.my/wbw/

Have you heard of #Opill? Opill is the U.S.’s first over-the-counter birth control pill. You don’t need a prescription or an ID and it costs about $20 per pack. It can be bought in stores like pharmacies or can be ordered online. The release of Opill marks a major turning point in reproductive healthcare access. Now, people who cannot access a doctor, health center , or don’t have insurance can use birth control pills. To learn more about Opill, visit their website https://opill.com/ To learn more about birth control options and get connected to resources or care in Southeastern Pennsylvania, you can call AccessMatters’ Information Hotline at 215-985-3300. You can also text the hotline at 833-667-3377.

July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month–a time to focus on the unique strengths and challenges that Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) face when it comes to mental health. Discussions about mental health don’t have to happen only with professionals; they can take place in the settings and with the people that make you feel the most comfortable. Changing where and how we talk about mental health can foster support and healing in BIPOC communities. Learn more about BIPOC mental health at mhanational.org/july. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline. org. You can also reach Crisis Text Line by texting HELLO to 741741 #BIPOCMentalHealth

I am thrilled to announce that an article that took...4 years...maybe 5?... from conception to publication is FINALLY available! It is called "I Committed a Racial Microaggression, Now What? An Introduction to CPR: The Racial Microaggressions Reparative Response Model." Many thanks to my co-authors for their patience and perseverance with this process! You can download the full-text article from the website: https://lnkd.in/eQhFyBqw If your organization is interested in a training on implementing this response model (which has since been adapted for other kinds of microaggressions), please reach out!

July is #DisabilityPrideMonth! “Disability Pride Month happens every July to mark the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was passed on July 26, 1990. The first celebration was a Disability Pride Day that took place in Boston in 1990. Chicago hosted the first Disability Pride Parade in 2004. Now there are events nationwide empowering people with disabilities to take pride in who they are.” In July and during every month, people with disabilities must be heard, uplifted, and supported.
