Join us in celebration of Climate Week Miami on April 27th at 11:00 AM at the Frost Art Museum, Florida International University where we will have the honor of hosting John C. Havens and Dave Doebler as a guest speaker for the #SDGs Symposium at FIU in partnership with FIU Sustainability Office & FIU Student Government Association. John C. Havens is a prominent figure in technology ethics, leading initiatives such as The IEEE Planet Positive 2030 Program and The IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems. He authored influential frameworks like "Ethically Aligned Design" and is the author of "Heartificial Intelligence" and "Hacking Happiness." Havens' diverse background includes acting and social media roles, shaping the ethical landscape of technology. Dave Doebler from Volunteer Cleanup is a Clean Water Advocate and accidental researcher, discovered the marine debris issue while kayaking in Biscayne Bay in 2012. Since then, he has collaborated with elected officials and staff countywide to reduce debris and pollution input into the bay. Currently, Dave serves on the Miami-Dade County Biscayne Bay Watershed Advisory Board, as Vice Chair of the Miami Beach Marine Services and Waterfront Protection Authority, and as a founding steering committee member of the Biscayne Bay Marine Health Coalition. Dave and John's mission is in line with the goals of our symposium, which seeks to raise awareness of and highlight significant environmental problems.
