  • We encourage you to explore our July-August 2024 highlighted paper entitled "An Open-Source ML-Based Full-Stack Optimization Framework for Machine Learning Accelerators". Hadi Esmaeilzadeh , Soroush Ghodrati, Andrew Kahng, Joon Kyung Kim, Sean Kinzer, Sayak Kundu, Rohan Mahapatra, Susmita Dey Manasi, Sachin Sapatnekar, Zhiang Wang, and Ziqing Zeng Authors: Hadi Esmaeilzadeh, Soroush Ghodrati, Andrew Kahng, Joon Kyung Kim, Sean Kinzer, Sayak Kundu, Rohan Mahapatra, Susmita Dey Manasi, Sachin Sapatnekar, Zhiang Wang, and Ziqing Zeng Issue: 4, 2024 "This article describes a physical-design-driven, learning-based prediction framework for hardware-accelerated deep neural network (DNN) and non-DNN ML algorithms. The approach achieves accurate estimation of backend power, performance, and area (PPA) metrics, as well as system runtime and energy metrics. This enables design space exploration to optimize backend and system metrics based on automated searches over both backend and architectural parameters. The proposed method is applied to ASIC implementations of two deep learning accelerator platforms, VTA and VeriGOOD-ML, with instance counts of up to 1.6M, in both a commercial 12 nm process and a research-oriented 45 nm process. It achieves an average prediction error of < 7% for backend PPA and system metrics of these designs." • We encourage you to explore our July-August 2024 highlighted paper entitled "Survey of Machine Learning for Software-assisted Hardware Design Verification: Past, Present, and Prospect". Authors: Nan Wu, Yingjie Li, Hang Yang, Hanqiu Chen, Steve Dai, Cong (Callie) Hao, Cunxi Yu, Yuan Xie Issue: 4, 2024 "As hardware design complexity continues to rise, the effort required for hardware verification is increasing at an even faster rate. This growing challenge has led to the emergence of machine learning (ML)-based techniques to enhance the efficiency of hardware verification. In this article, we present an overview of how ML-based techniques are embraced in hardware design verification, from formal verification to simulation-based verification, from academia to industry, and from current progress to future prospects. We envision that the adoption of ML-based techniques will pave the road for more scalable, more intelligent, and more productive hardware verification." • CALL FOR NOMINATIONS : TODAES Rookie Author of the Year (RAY) Award Deadline: February 1, 2024 ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems (TODAES) introduced a new award in 2022, i.e., the TODAES Rookie Author of the Year (RAY) Award. This newly introduced award aims to highlight the achievement of junior researchers in the Design and Design Automation of Electronic Systems field. Specifically, the award recognizes an author whose first-ever peer-reviewed journal paper as a lead author is published in ACM TODAES. The lead author of a paper refers to the author who contributed the most to the submission. Since people may adopt different ways to order the authors, any nomination for the RAY Award must make it clear that the nominee is the lead author. If two authors satisfy this requirement (meaning they made equal contributions and are both rookie authors), both can receive the RAY award. We are now seeking nominations for the 2024 TODAES RAY Award. The nomination deadline is February 1, 2024. All papers published in the ACM TODAES between January 2023 and December 2023 are eligible. The RAY award will be selected based on originality, timeliness, potential impact, and overall quality. The RAY award will be announced and recognized during the 2024 Design Automation Conference, June 23-27, 2024, San Francisco, CA. A nomination should include the following material: ·        Name and email of the nominator ·        Title and author list of the paper, and the issue in which the paper was published ·        Confirmation that the paper is the first peer-reviewed journal publication in ACM or IEEE, where the nominee is the lead author. ·        A brief supporting statement of no more than 150 words. ·        A PDF copy of the paper   Submit the nominations using this link: https://lnkd.in/g3j2QqF9 by February 1, 2024. If you have questions, e-mail Ann Franchesca Laguna at [email protected], Managing Editor of ACM TODAES, at [email protected]. No self-nomination is allowed.   Contacts: Ann Franchesca Laguna at [email protected] X. Sharon Hu: [email protected]
