Bridging Theory and Practice in Education and Credentialing

About us

ACS Ventures, LLC (ACS) was formed to address a need in the assessment community for evaluation, operational support, and quality assurance. These needs are inclusive of program and assessment design, policy, and practice in the education, credentialing, and workforce sectors. The ACS team is committed to applying its diverse experience to our work with client’s organizations focused on the development of practical solutions that help ensure the validity, reliability, and fairness of assessment programs. ACS is an organization whose partners have developed a reputation for their commitment to quality, interdisciplinary consultation skills, and contributions to thought leadership within the education and credentialing sectors of the testing industry. The ACS staff formed the organization with an intent to bridge science and practice through direct service to organizations, minimizing the layers of overhead that can challenge less efficient organizations. Staff members from ACS have more than 40 years of combined experience consulting directly with state, regional, national, and international testing programs in education and credentialing. Across these experiences, our staff members have provided actionable input to program leaders on various testing related issues, designed and led numerous test development and validation activities, and conducted alignment studies for various programs.   Staff at ACS have also been extensively involved in research and service within the testing industry for years. ACS staff members have engaged in service to newsletters and journal editorships, book contributions, and various levels of committee and leadership activities. This dedication to engaging in professional contributions demonstrates the staff’s commitment to being an active part of the professional community and also advancing the science and practice of testing.

ACS Introduces our Case Studies Series In our 8th year as a team, and based on our combined experience at ACS, we have organized our work in three key phases of assessment. In this series, we’d like to highlight an example of our work in the Research & Design phase and share a brief case study. Case Study #1 - Updating Current Credential & Developing New Credential ACS Client is an international credentialing organization with a suite of credentials. This was a multi-year project where ACS audited, evaluated existing practices across credentials, and developed solutions that would resolve a series of challenges the program was facing. ACS provided psychometric expertise and identified appropriate solutions that incorporated policy goals, program activities, and psychometric standards. Susan Davis-Becker, PhD, ICE-CCP is among the I.C.E. R&D Committee members and experts who co-authored a new research paper titled Test Disruption and Impacts on Test Validity.    This I.C.E. research report examines the role of test disruption on the validity and interpretation of credentialing assessment results. The study was commenced to both understand disruption (that is, planned and unplanned changes) and identify best practices on how to avoid, prepare for, or mitigate disruptions.    If you would like to purchase a copy of the research paper, please visit: (https://lnkd.in/dgN6f2yA)
