“I have experienced the pain, grief, and shock that come along with losing family and friends to cancer. That’s what encouraged me to pursue my interest in cancer research through this fellowship program. The American Cancer Society (ACS) understands that many people are involved in cancer care and research, from clinicians, all the way to family members. My involvement with ACS is meaningful because they are committed to supporting and improving cancer outcomes for all.” – Kimberly Serrano 🎗️ We’ve teamed up with University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center to support the aspirations of promising young researchers like Kimberly through the ICARE Post-Baccalaureate program. Join me in celebrating the 18 million cancer survivors living in the US. My dear sister is one of them. In a toast at her wedding last month, I reflected on her loving, joyful heart. I shared a story about how the week she was diagnosed with cancer she wanted to take her sisters country line dancing. Watching her dance at her wedding, cancer free, felt like such a full circle moment. A cancer journey is marked by so many milestones, big and small. With your support - funding cancer research, advocacy, and direct patient support - more people can celebrate these milestones. More people can survive cancer. For National Cancer Survivors Month, I wanted to give a special shout out to those who are making cancer a lesser part of their life. See my video message to learn what major metro area all those survivors would fit into. It’s not small. I invite you to join me in celebrating cancer survivors at https://lnkd.in/eGxsMftX. #EveryCancerEveryLife #CancerSurvivors

“The only reason I was able to make it to my cancer treatment every day was the help of these gas cards. Thank you! I will hopefully be able to pay it forward to someone else who is fighting the same fight I am.” – CHI Health Patient So begins the cycle of support! We’ve teamed up with CHI Health to provide free rides to treatment and other transportation solutions through our transportation grants, and love hearing about this patient’s intent to pass that support on!

Ready, Set, Celebrate! 🎊🏃♂️ We are here to brag on the incredible Ramon Bermo, David Grier, and team for completing their extraordinary journey running 31 miles daily from New York City and San Francisco to raise awareness for the 31 Hope Lodge communities across the United States. Yesterday, they reached the finish line at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Omaha! Let's show some love for this remarkable achievement and resilience⬇️🎉
On April 2, 2024, Ramon Bermo, David Grier, and team embarked on an extraordinary journey to raise awareness for the 31 Hope Lodge communities across the United States. Each ran 31 miles every day, symbolizing the number of Hope Lodge communities in the US, with one starting from New York City and the other from San Francisco. They navigated rough terrains, made difficult life-changing decisions, and were pushed beyond their limits. This expedition mirrored the path of a cancer patient: the start line symbolized the day of diagnosis, the subsequent days represented the fierce battle against cancer, and the finish line at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Omaha on June 2, 2024, embodied the triumph of survivorship. It’s a story of struggle, hope, and forming bonds with those who share the same journey. We at Cipla USA are incredibly proud of the efforts and sacrifices made by the entire team who initiated this campaign and, most importantly, completed it. Their commitment has inspired us all, and we are deeply grateful for the awareness and support generated for the #HopeLodge communities, a place that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of cancer patients, providing them with a home away from home. Let's celebrate this remarkable achievement and the spirit of resilience it embodies. Thank you to everyone who has supported this cause. Together, we make a difference. #CaringForLife #EveryCancerEveryLife #CrossingtheNation

Our 17th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Gala, presented by Hy-Vee, Inc. was a slam dunk of a night!🎉 With a "Suits & Sneakers" theme adding a fun twist, we united 450+ guests to lace up and join one team in the fight against cancer. What began as a seed of an idea to honor the late Dale Howard-a revered coach himself, who envisioned a Coaches vs. Cancer program in Iowa, uniting the state's Division I Men's Basketball coaches in a noble cause has blossomed into a powerful legacy raising $7 MILLION to date to fight back against cancer✨💪 We wanted to extend our gratitude to our awesome emcee Jason Willis, our inspiring mission speaker Richard Deming, MD, the spectacular coaches Coach Ben Jacobson of University of Northern Iowa, Coach Fran McCaffery of University of Iowa, Coach Ben McCollum of Drake University, Coach T.J. Otzelberger, of Iowa State University, and everyone who joined us for a very special evening💙👟🏀
